This course provides information on the requirements and on establishing a formal laboratory management system.  It also includes discussion on the relatively new application of measurement uncertainty requirements for testing.

• Requirements for compliance – Management and Technical
• Laboratory management system – organization, quality system, audit and management review
• Management of resources – personnel, training, laboratory equipment and environment
• Laboratory processes – test and calibration methods, validation of methods, estimation of uncertainty of measurement, measurement traceability
• Subcontracting of tests and calibrations
• Document and record control, corrective and preventive action

• After participating in the workshop they will understand the need for a  Laboratory Management System
• They will have broadened their understanding of the laboratory requirements and how  to comply with them
• They will leave with templates and approaches for some of the most significant requirements
• They will have initiated an implementation plan.

This workshop is intended for personnel who will lead, direct, coordinate or participate in the laboratory management system as well as for personnel who have internal audit or training responsibilities.
 

Materials include a comprehensive course workbook,  an audit checklist, templates to provide back-on-the-job application and a copy of ISO/IEC 17025.  A certificate of participation and .7 CEU/RUs  is awarded.
